Tbll053 Strategies For Building Confidence
"Living in fear is not my way of living.
My name is a Prince Khan, an introvert with a lot to say. However for this introduction I will get right to the point.
Where my story started -
Growing up as the youngest in my household, I was always told by my parents to “let your brother or sister do it”. I grew up missing out on key life skills which hindered me in school and lowered my confidence in anything and everything because no one ever had faith in me. I grew up as an average kid, being too shy even raise my hand in class because I lacked confidence. Every parent teacher meeting was the same; “he doesn’t talk”, “he’s shy” or my favourite “please get him talk more”.
Where my life changed –
In grade 11 my life changed. It was all thanks to a drama class I took. A shy person taking a drama class? That’s new, but I needed the grades so I took what I could to help me get at least a B average. This class changed my entire life, I went from a shy person to one that loved doing presentations. Life happens in mysterious ways, and this class was a blessing in disguise.
Where I fell –
Although I became a great presenter, I failed at qualifying for an international competition that I was hoping to go to through my University. Having gone through the trauma of being told your team can go but you can stay because you’re not good enough really left a negative stigma for a year. However, I came back the following year learning from my failure, qualified and became the team leader.
Where I am now –
I’ve gone from being a shy child to being an influential and motivational speaker. I run workshops and do presentations where I always get amazing compliments. For it not have been for my experiences, I would have never gotten where I am today. So living in fear is not my way of living. You should never let fear hold you back either."
